Thanks for your help, John. I will send it back in hopes you can fix my problem. Please, educate me on the best 8-tracks to buy in the future. It's clear the unopened ones from the 70's can pose a problem. Thank you for all your help., .

What does it mean comes with foil splice and pads?
That means we take the old foil splice and pad out of the vintage used 8-track tape you are purchasing and replace it with a new pad and foil splice. For after many years the glue on the foil splice may deteriorate. The pad or felt pads may also do the same. So we replace the pad if necessary and then test each tape through all four tracks to make sure the tape is operating as it should. We listen carefully to the audio to make sure there are no sound discrepancies. Then the item is listed for sale, the item will then sit until the time of purchase. Once purchased the item is then re-tested to make sure the audio and the mechanics of the tape performs to full play-ability with no issues as the manufacturer of the tape has intended for it to play. We then enclose the tape in a cellophane bag and place the 8tracksRBack logo to close the bag once your purchased item has passed all test.

Does not tell me how much shipping is going to cost after Credit Card information?
I have talked with PayPal and have asked them to start putting the shipping cost along with the cost of product on the information page (which asks for credit card information). The information page is not a commit to page. The following page after the information page is where the total shipping cost is at plus that page is where the icon is to submit your order. I mentioned to them that it is very confusing for customers because after they input their credit card information and they feel they are committing to the order without knowing how much the shipping is going to cost them. My apologies for your inconvenience and hopefully my screams will be answered from PayPal.

Tommy - As performed by The London Symphony Orchestra 1972 ODE Cassette Tape BROKE WHILE PLAYING
Hello Customer, My apologies to hear the cassette tape you purchased has broke while playing. As I mentioned in the terms and conditions that I repair only the pad. However, sometimes because of the age of the cassette tapes the glue on the leaders may have disintegrated over time and sometimes have to be replaced. That is something that is not serviced on all of the cassette tapes prior to shipping them out, nor do I perform that type of service on any cassette tape prior to listing them. The cassette tape you purchased tested excellent prior to listing it to the site and also tested excellent prior to shipping it to you. I will usually just replace the pad and remove any static that may be on the tape before listing the cassette tape to the website. The cassette tape is then fast forwarded and then re-wound to the end of each side (to make sure the leader tape is secure). The cassette tape is then tested in it's entirety listening closely for no flaws during playback and then shipped to you. If you should ever have a problem with any of the products purchased from the 8tracksRBack site within the 7 day guarantee period, please ship it back and a full refund will be given. After the 7-day warranty has expired and up to 30 days after the 7-day has epired please ship it back and the item can be exchange for an item of equal value. Please understand I do my best to make sure all of the products that leave these doors are playing top notch, however I do not replace the leaders on cassette tapes, that will be something you can do on your own if you should ever have that type of problem. Again, my sincere apologies you had a problem with the cassette tape. Best regards, John@8tracksRBack

What is fully restored mean?
Fully restored means that the tape will need no additional work like tension adjustment, replacing the pressure pads, replacing the foil splice and replacing the pinch roller. All of that work has already been taken care of and the tape is ready to play as with all used 8-track tapes on the website. The tape is then tested to make sure it plays flawless before it has been listed to the website.

My deepest apologies for the length of time it took for you to receive your purchase, however I shipped it out as soon as possible. You placed your order on a Saturday 19th of October, I shipped your purchase out on Monday the 21st of October when the post office opened. It shows you received the tape on Thursday the 24th of October 3 days later via USPS Media Mail (3-9 business day delivery) which is the shipping option you chose. I really do not see how the post office could have got your package to you any faster, unless you selected Priority Mail and even then you would have received it on Wednesday. As far as the performance of the tape, it was tested on 3 different quadraphonic players and I heard no cross talk at all during testing. If you should have a problem please contact me immediately after delivery and I will gladly refund your purchase once I receive back the problem tape.

Yes, I see it has recently duplicated your purchase. No worries, since I only have one tape, you will only be billed for that one tape. I am not in control of the mechanics or technical aspects of this website, that is between eCrater and PayPal. Please next time, email me first rather than leave your message on the feedback area after you have just made your purchase during check-out. For I will see the email message first, way before ever seeing the feedback. My deepest apologies that your purchase was duplicated, I have contacted eCrater in hopes of not having this type of problem occur in the future. Thank you

Shipping/handling great. The tape doesn't play, I guess too old. No tunes from Paul here, sadly.HELP?
Hello Customer, I have noticed the neutral feedback that you left, however like I mentioned in the previous e-mails that I sent when you first purchased the tape a couple of months ago. As I mentioned to you then by e-mail and also in the listing when you purchased the tape, a new sealed 8-track tape is very old and more than likely it will need a few of it's components replaced in order to bring it to full play-ability, for over time these components disintegrate. As I mentioned also to you then, before you decided to open the tape, to send it back to me so I could restore the sealed new 8-track tape to full play-ability for you or give you a complete refund which ever you preferred. If you would like for me to still restore the tape for you there will be a $7.50 charge for the restoration plus the return to you postage cost of $3.09. Hope this helps, Best Regards John/8tracksRBack

Thanks for your help, John. I will send it back in hopes you can fix my problem. Please, educate me on the best 8-tracks to buy in the future. It's clear the unopened ones from the 70's can pose a problem. Thank you for all your help., .
Hello Customer, Any of the used 8-track tapes on the site are restored to full play-ability and are guaranteed. Any of the new sealed 8-track tapes on the site, are anywhere you may purchase them will need to be restored to full play-ability. If you would like for me to open any sealed new 8-track tape and restore it to full play-ability there is an additional $7.50 charge. If the sealed new 8-track tape you asked me to restore should need a pinch roller replacement, there will be an additional $7.50 charge for replacing the old soft pinch roller. Soft pinch rollers will usually and more than likely will be found on the new sealed 1970 and pre- 1970 Ampex or GRT 8-track tapes, so if you were to purchase one of those type of cartridges expect for me to send you a notification about the soft pinch roller. All 8-track tapes that are used on the site that are 1970 and pre- 1970 Ampex or GRT tapes have a new pinch roller replacement. The reason for soft pinch rollers is because years ago when the tapes were manufactured by some manufacturers, they were manufactured with natural rubber pinch roller instead of the synthetic rubber. Natural rubber breaks down and disintegrates over time and use. Synthetic rubber does not, however, it will wear down over time same as the tires on any automobile. When selecting a new sealed 8-track tape you would go to "New 8-track tape repair" in the new 8-track tape category and there you can select the number of restorations needed for the amount of tapes you will be purchasing, here is the link http://8tracksrback.ecrater.com/p/17831734/8-track-tape-repair-foam-felt?keywords=new+8-track+tape+repair Whether the tape is 1970, 1980 or even 1960 the pad or pads should be inspected and replaced also along with the foil splice in most instances. Even though the foil splice may look good, the glue may have soaked into the oxide coating and may separate it from the plastic tape over continuous play of the tape. This may not happen for sometimes up to a month of playing a new sealed 8-track tape, so always replace the foil splice on any new sealed tape no matter how it looks. Tape reversal will most often occur when a foam pad has not been replaced in an 8-track tape. Tape reversal is when the graphite bottom side of the tape is twisted to the top of the tape and the oxide coated side is now on the bottom of the tape, you will still hear sound when the tape is played, however it will not be very loud. Make sure your foam pad is firm and never mushy or too soft, for tape reversal may be the outcome. Hope this information helps, if you should have further questions feel free to let me know. When you should decide to send me the tape, let me know that it is in the mail that way I can expect the arrival of the tape. Thanks and best regards, John/8tracksRBack
