a musical comedy with lyrics by Irving Caesar and Otto Harbach, music by Vincent Youmans, and a book by Otto Harbach and Frank Mandel, based on Mandel's 1919 Broadway play My Lady Friends. The farcical story involves three couples who all find themselves together at a cottage in Atlantic City in the midst of a blackmail scheme.
Its songs include the well-known "Tea for Two" and "I Want to Be Happy". Its 1925 London debut was a hit, running for 665 performances. A Broadway production opening later the same year was also a success. Film versions and revivals followed. A popular 1971 Broadway revival led to the piece becoming a favourite of school and community groups for a time.
A popular myth held that the show was financed by selling baseball superstar Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees, resulting in the "Curse of the Bambino", but it was later shown that it was My Lady Friend, not No, No, Nanette, that was so financed.
Because this tape is sealed new and we cannot inspect for play-ability, we offer no warranty or guarantees on how well this tape will perform once it is opened and removed from the cellophane package. Because this sealed new 8-track tape is very old, the foam pad and glue on the foil splice most often has a tendency to deteriorate over many years of time. Always inspect and replace if necessary those items before playing any sealed new 8-track tape, or damage to the tape and player may occur.
